A Very Long Overdue Sunday Roundup

New Games (4-28-13)For the better part of three weeks now I have been living in California! The move from Indiana had been planned for quite some time and I can finally say it’s done and over. A few hiccups aside, the transition has been mostly successful, and I’m finally starting to get into a new groove. Unfortunately while in this transition the blog has suffered from sparse updates and weak ones at that. But I’m here now to rectify this week’s glaring omission: The Sunday Roundup. Despite moving to a new place, I actually did manage to pick up new games (surprisingly I’ve procured new games each week I’ve been here). Without further delay, here are this week’s new games!

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood CoverCall of Juarez: Bound in Blood
Xbox 360
Release Date: June 30th, 2009
Purchased at: GameStop (Sunnyvale, CA – $4)

You know how I love video game sales, and GameStop was running a fairly large 50% off sale on select used games (sadly, the deal is now over). Two games this week were part of that deal, and the first one up is Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. I originally turned on to the game after seeing the Zero Punctuation episode about it and thought it’d be a great game to play with my girlfriend. Sadly the game is multiplayer but only online. I don’t understand how co-op can be a thing without local multiplayer. Now I have to seek out another copy of the game just to enjoy the multiplayer!

Conduit CoverThe Conduit
Wii
Release Date: June 23rd, 2009
Purchased at: GameStop (Sunnyvale, CA – $5)

The Conduit was marketed as one of the “Hardcore” games for the Wii. A game built from the ground up for the Wii featuring first-person shooting, a mature theme, and top-notch gameplay, The Conduit sounded great but didn’t impress upon release. Regardless, the game did spawn a sequel and has since been on my radar for the right price. Since the Wii U is upon us, I’m more prone to pick up Wii games now before they’re all gone. This one could be decent, but I’ve got bigger games on my plate I’d rather play.

Spyborgs CoverSpyborgs
Wii
Release Date: September 22nd 2009
Purchased at: GameStop (Sunnyvale, CA – $2)

The spine of the game caught my eye: I hadn’t heard of Spyborgs before, but when I pulled it out and noticed the price tag of $2 I was immediately intrigued. Then I saw the Capcom logo in the bottom corner and my eyes began scanning the box. The flawless condition told me the game was barely played before someone traded it in. At two bucks I thought I’d give it a shot. When I got home I found the game selling online for around $8, so financially it was a good deal. Critics said the game was a run-of-the-mill beat-em up, but I’m still all for it, especially a game produced by Capcom! Look for more on this game soon.
