Nintendo’s newest handheld collected here

Sunday Roundup: 4/6/14

New Games (4-6-14)Weeks like this make me feel equally proud and kind of sad to be a collector. This week brought in a few truly excellent finds, as well as some games that were too good a deal to pass up. However, there’s always a caveat, this week it was being damn expensive. Usually I pride myself on picking up games on the cheap, hitting my magic price or under. No matter how hard you try though, you’ll soon discover if you haven’t already that some games are just expensive, and they probably aren’t going down in price any time soon. Before we get into this week’s haul, I feel like I can squeeze one more plug into a previous article. Let’s see, what would work… Oh, gotcha! And this as well! (more…)

Review: Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy Banner

It’s rare when a game series can span six entries and not hit its peak until the last game is released. Even more astounding is the Professor Layton series, where just about every game in the series can been seen as a highlight.

Seriously. They’re all that good.

Whether it’s the sublime storytelling and time traveling of Unwound Future, the first foray into 3D with Miracle Mask, or perhaps the very first adventure in the Curious Village, there are plenty of Layton games to choose from and have a truly excellent time playing.

One last adventure. One last puzzle. One last memory…

Sunday Roundup: 3/23/14

New Games (3-23-14)This week’s roundup is full of portable games: The DS is represented well, the 3DS comes in with a sub-par launch game, and a brand new, sealed copy of one of the best PSP games I played. If that’s not enough, there’s a first in this batch as well! And you know what, I might actually play some of these games!

Sunday Roundup: 3/9/14

New Games (3-9-14)This week’s Sunday Roundup has been long overdue, with all of the games actually coming into my collection prior to last Sunday. But, seeing as I was busy with work and a multitude of other tasks last week, I wasn’t able to get it written until today. Nonetheless, there are eight games here spanning seven systems. I kind of like it when they’re all for different systems: it’s like spreading out the wealth amongst the lonely consoles. And whenever I can procure a GameCube game I feel even better about the purchase!

Useful Tips for Playing Bravely Default You Probably Didn’t Know

Bravely Default Agnes Art

By now you all probably know that Square Enix’s new RPG Bravely Default has captivated me unlike any game has as of late. You also might know that there are quite a few “Tips for Playing Bravely Default” articles out there. I mean like… a lot. A lot a lot. Something I’ve noticed though about these helpful articles is that, well, not all of them are all that helpful. I mean sure, most of them are great for beginning players. But I’m not a beginning player anymore. I’m needing help in other areas. That is where most of these “Tip” articles fall out of relevance.

For those of you that already have a grasp on the Job system, those players out there that have maxed out the shops in Norende, the gamers who have already awakened the four crystals, I have a few actual end-game (or near end-game, for that matter) tips and advice that you probably didn’t know you wanted/needed.
