As long as there have been video games, there has been video game peripherals. Used to simulate, compliment, supplement, or straight up change the way we play a game, peripherals are one of the most hit or miss aspects of gaming culture. After the success of the Wii there were dozens upon dozens of totally useless peripherals to waste your money. While the onslaught of plastic is (hopefully) behind us, there are still game peripherals being released. While successes and failures are bound to happen across the board, the obscurity and rarity of some of these devices can fluctuate regardless of quality. I’ve spent a great deal of time with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and enjoyed every minute of it. I formed teams with my favorite characters from Persona 3 and made new friends from the lineup of Persona 4 characters. I’ve played cartographer and constructed 100% complete and perfect maps for over a dozen floors in the labyrinth. I’ve fused, sacrificed, and leveled up countless Personas, performed hundreds of all-out attacks, and helped Junpei Mr. X hit on girls. I’m not close to finishing the game, but I think I’m done. A massive haul from several Goodwill’s around the area helped to make this first official Sunday Roundup of 2015 a big one. There isn’t anything extraordinary in the haul this week, but there are some fun titles and some titles I’ve been sitting on for a long time. I also continued the trend of buying the entire Tony Hawk’s series someone keeps donating. Eventually I’ll run out of games/consoles I don’t have yet, so I’ll need to think of something else to do in the meantime. (more…)
I’m late on getting this Christmas themed Sunday Roundup out, but after the holiday itself, and the craziness that was my job, followed by the fun times had on New Year’s Eve, and then a week long vacation in Las Vegas and getting to see the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, I barley had any time to write! Because of that, I have actually combined the last three weeks into this one Roundup. Honestly, it really just contains the games from the holidays, as I didn’t buy but one game afterward, but to be perfectly fair, you all know. Also, this is the last Roundup of 2014! And I have to say, it was an exceptional way to end the year indeed! (more…)

Level-5, the company behind the elite DS/3DS Professor Layton series, has stepped into the world of fantasy RPG with the aptly titled Fantasy Life. Parts Final Fantasy, parts Animal Crossing, and a healthy dose of Diablo-like gameplay, Fantasy Life is a game that has a lot to offer gamers on the go. Small nuisances keep this life from being the greatest, but the game offers such an extensive amount of content you’ll have plenty of activities to keep you happy for dozens of hours.

After a small vacation last weekend, I’ve combined two weeks worth of games for this Roundup. And to justify why there are so many games this week so I don’t feel too bad about myself, after the previous Roundup I also happened to buy some games, so really… it’s three week’s worth of games. That makes this massive pile of games more reasonable sounding, right?
