Sony’s current console and all it’s glory

Sunday Roundup: 11/2/14

New Games (11-2-14)After a small vacation last weekend, I’ve combined two weeks worth of games for this Roundup. And to justify why there are so many games this week so I don’t feel too bad about myself, after the previous Roundup I also happened to buy some games, so really… it’s three week’s worth of games. That makes this massive pile of games more reasonable sounding, right?

Right?

Sunday Roundup: 10/12/14

New Games (10-12-14)A strange week this week. I can’t recall any other week in which I bought this many loose games (garage sales notwithstanding). As the DS is reaching the last few months of its lifespan at retailers shelves, the likelihood of finding any games complete anymore is a dream which only occasionally comes to fruition. With that in mind, I decided to peruse the loose DS game stacks at three separate GameStop’s and came up with some great finds! Now I’m actually curious about other loose finds at other stores, so I think I’m going to be looking through those racks more often. Oh, and more games from eBay! Yay!! (more…)

Worth Playing vol. 8: The Crossover Collection

Wolvering vs Ryu Art

Crossovers are the best fan service gamers can get. The blending of popular IPs into one unique game usually gets fans in a fever, finally being able to play as Sonic the Hedgehog in a Mario-themed game. Or finally being able to see who would win between the X-Man Wolverine and the Street Fighter Ryu. The opportunities for creating these scenarios is endless, but despite this we don’t get too many crossover games. Maybe it has something to do with publishing rights, company egos, or (most likely) money, but whatever the culprit may be, there are still a handful of crossover video games that are a hell of a lot of fun to play, and totally worth your time!

Sunday Roundup: 6/29/14

New Games (6-29-14)Wow, what an amazing week! It was my birthday on Thursday, and Laura picked up a few great titles for me to add to the collection. Not only that, she thought about the ones that we could play together and grabbed a few of those as well! My brother actually delivered a few games as well, both of which were very unexpected! Lastly, I checked out a GameStop I hadn’t been to in several months and found two awesome Wii games. I took a couple days off from work, so I was actually able to play some of these games as well. One of the game’s wasn’t as good as I was hoping, but I knew it wouldn’t be great to begin with, and the other really makes me want to play more.

Top Ten E3 2014 Moments

E3 2014 LogoThe 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo has officially come and gone, and left in it’s wake are mountains of exciting games to play, systems that look a hell of a lot better, and gamers who are proud to pronounce their hobby to any and all. Last year’s show was filled with announcements about the next generation consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, so this year it was expected that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would put out plenty of new software to go with that shiny new hardware. These ten moments were the defining times of E3 2014, and the games I am most excited to play. (more…)

Top Ten Dream E3 2014 Predictions

E3 2014 Logo

In what might be the only tradition I have here at SlickGaming, we are one week away from the 2014 Electronics Entertainment Expo, which means it’s time for some dream predictions! I’ve come to realize that while these are mostly in good fun, they are all actually things I really would like to see come out of the show. Interestingly enough, some of these predictions have come true (more or less): Nintendo has actually made significant progress in the online gaming department, and the PS4 and, more recently, the Kinect-Free Xbox One do indeed retail for under $400! Two out of twenty isn’t that bad, right?

Without delay, here are my predictions for this year’s show! (more…)

Games I Have Somehow Never Played…

Yoshis Island Question MarkWell, this is embarrassing.

It should come as no surprise to anyone who has played video game for more than a few years that you just can’t play them all. No matter how hard you have tried, you can’t fit in each video game that releases in a year into your play rotation. Video games aren’t like movies: they can’t be seen and completed in a few short hours (at least most of them). They aren’t as easy to come by in some instances. And sometimes they simply don’t fit into your budget.

For this reason or that, we all have games that we’ve never gotten around to playing. Triple A games, too. The games that may have defined a generation. The games that people are still talking about to this day. The games that you kind of have to just shake your head at when others are discussing around you because you have no idea what is going on.

These are those games. Below you will find the shame of my gaming expertise. These are the games I’ve never played. At least as of yet. (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 3/9/14

New Games (3-9-14)This week’s Sunday Roundup has been long overdue, with all of the games actually coming into my collection prior to last Sunday. But, seeing as I was busy with work and a multitude of other tasks last week, I wasn’t able to get it written until today. Nonetheless, there are eight games here spanning seven systems. I kind of like it when they’re all for different systems: it’s like spreading out the wealth amongst the lonely consoles. And whenever I can procure a GameCube game I feel even better about the purchase!

Yearly Roundup: 2013

New Games (4-7-13)Another full year of game collecting has come to a close. While I don’t think 2013 stacked up as much as 2012 (in terms of amount of games added), 2013 still gave me dozens of great new games to play and cherish. I picked up a brand new console in 2013 with the Wii U, and even managed to snag a few new Sega Saturn and original Xbox games as well. This was also a strong year for downloadable games for me, especially for review on the 3DS, so a lot of games I’d have loved to own I only have in digital form. Sad, but not the worst thing that could happen. Without further adieu, here are the games of 2013:
