Sunday Roundup: 10/5/14

New Games (10-5-14)Usually within a week I grab a few games from one, maybe two locations. But this week I was able to pick up a bunch of games from a lot of different places! GameStop, Amazon, another GameStop, and a trio of games from eBay! And, of course, seeing as this is “Smash Bros. Week”, I had to pick up my copy of Super Smash Bros for 3DS last Friday. It’s what I have been sinking all of my time into, so much so that I actually developed a small sore on the right thumb! Anyhow, if I have any luck, I’ll try to hit up a different GameStop today, one that I usually have good luck with and one that I don’t get to frequent all too often. So here we go. (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 9/21/14

New Games (9-21-14)All kinds of craziness this week and last has lead to me not only getting a ton of new video games, but also having no time at all to post about them! Lucky for you, faithful readers, I’ll be posting two Sunday Roundups this week! On another side note, I realized after setting up my photography studio thingy that I missed five games to include in this week’s collection picture to the left! I’ve added them down below, but just a heads up. Also, this week, and especially next, i picked up a ton of games from eBay. Usually I swear of the site, but for the past few months (maybe even a year or so) I’ve been awfully dry in the game collecting market. I decided to take a stab at securing some of those harder to find titles online, and I was met with great success! Unfortunately, now that means I’m going to be shopping/wasting money on eBay more frequently now, which isn’t the best thing to happen… (more…)

Review: Guilty Party

Guilty Party Banner

Point and click games are some of the oldest video games out there. Despite the tenure of the genre, we don’t see too many of them spring up nowadays, likely because we’ve moved past them in the medium. Technology lets us do a lot more with games, so the archaic ways of the past usually stay in the past. Once in a blue moon a fun point and click games does arise from the proverbial ashes to make me wonder why it ever went away in the first place. Enter Guilty Party (sometimes referred to as Disney’s Guilty Party), a point and click crime drama following a very socially inclusive family trying to get to the bottom of a heinous household mystery. If you are a Wii U gamer looking for sleeper hits or unknown greats for the Wii, I would easily consider this game a “Hidden Gem” that is well worth your time! (more…)

Worth Playing vol. 8: The Crossover Collection

Wolvering vs Ryu Art

Crossovers are the best fan service gamers can get. The blending of popular IPs into one unique game usually gets fans in a fever, finally being able to play as Sonic the Hedgehog in a Mario-themed game. Or finally being able to see who would win between the X-Man Wolverine and the Street Fighter Ryu. The opportunities for creating these scenarios is endless, but despite this we don’t get too many crossover games. Maybe it has something to do with publishing rights, company egos, or (most likely) money, but whatever the culprit may be, there are still a handful of crossover video games that are a hell of a lot of fun to play, and totally worth your time!

Sunday Roundup: 8/3/14

New Games (8-3-14)Get ready folks, this is a big one.
After a lovely trip back home to Indiana to visit my family and see some old friends, I’m back in California where it still hasn’t rained in months! Severe drought aside, I have to say this trip back home was a blast, and coming home to The Bay with two dozen new video games to add to the collection is quite an accomplishment as well. I don’t think I’ve picked up this many games in a single week since I grabbed a ton of games right before I actually moved out west. Coincidentally, I went to nearly every game store I went to then, and managed to pick up something from all of them! There are even a couple gems in this mix, so let’s get started!

Sunday Roundup: 6/29/14

New Games (6-29-14)Wow, what an amazing week! It was my birthday on Thursday, and Laura picked up a few great titles for me to add to the collection. Not only that, she thought about the ones that we could play together and grabbed a few of those as well! My brother actually delivered a few games as well, both of which were very unexpected! Lastly, I checked out a GameStop I hadn’t been to in several months and found two awesome Wii games. I took a couple days off from work, so I was actually able to play some of these games as well. One of the game’s wasn’t as good as I was hoping, but I knew it wouldn’t be great to begin with, and the other really makes me want to play more.
