Sunday Roundup: 6/28/15

New Games (6-28-15)Once again we’re bringing together a couple of Roundups into one, namely a few Just Dance games from last week and then this week’s extremely generous and awesome birthday gifts from friends and family! As always I felt super grateful and loved to be able to have people in my life that want to give me presents such as these, and I am eternally grateful for all that love and support.

I was also able to swing by a few different GameStop’s I don’t usually venture too, and while neither of them had anything too grand to call out, I was able to pick up a handful of Wii games on the cheap as well. (more…)

Fallout Shelter is a Fun Way to Waste Time

Fallout Shelter Title

One of the most pleasant things to come out of this year’s E3 show was Bethesda’s announcement of a brand new Fallout game, and I’m not talking about Fallout 4. A little iOS game (soon to be on Android) called Fallout Shelter was released directly after the Bethesda Press Conference, and I, like many gamers, downloaded it immediately. Having little to do with the actual world of Fallout and instead focusing on the Pipboy renditions of persons and the Vaults themselves, Fallout Shelter is a fun way to waste a lot of time. If you’re looking for something substantial to hold you over until Fallout 4 releases this Fall, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. (more…)

Top Ten E3 2015 Moments

E3 2015 Banner

All the excitement and buildup to the year’s biggest video game show has come and gone, and left in its wake are dozens of new game announcements, trailers, demos, and press conferences. On the whole I felt this year’s E3 dwells in comparisons to last years (which may stem from my Nintendo fandom), but nonetheless there were plenty of great experiences to take away from this years show. Even if Capcom didn’t announce Power Stone 3 yet. (more…)

Top Ten Dream E3 2015 Predictions

E3 2015 Banner

It’s that time of year again. E3 is this week, and with it will come the best and most exciting video game announcements, trailers, demos, and releases for the upcoming year. Many companies benchmark their entire remainder of the year on this show, making or breaking 2015 before it even finishes. Rampant speculation fuels the show year in and year out, and this year is no exception: a few days out of the show and there have already been announcements and rumors flying. But if I could have things 100% my way, we’d be gearing up to hear the following ten announcements at E3 2015. (more…)

Flea Market Finds!

Flea Market Games 1This past weekend I was finally able to make it to the De Anza College Flea Market! It is held every first Saturday of the month, and I’ve been consistently coming up with reasons why I can’t make it! Laura and I would literally be planning on going one weekend, and then something would come up and cause us not to make it. Thankfully this month we had the backing of Laura’s sister and our friend who wanted to go too, cementing our trip! I went into the flea market hoping to find games (naturally) but was really looking for something extraordinary to make the whole trip worthwhile. There were some good finds, some busted haggles, and, if you can believe it, an extraordinary find! (more…)

The New Legend of Zelda Comic is a Fun Twist on a Classic Game

Link to the Past Comic 1

A brand new Legend of Zelda comic was released last week. Well, not exactly brand new: it’s a re-release of a 12-part saga originally seen in Nintendo Power back in the 90’s. But for the first time in a long time it’s been bound together in a near 200 page full color novel. Based on the Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and written and drawn by famous manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, the grand adventure spins the familiar storyline and adds new characters, plot developments, and some lighthearted humor to make the tale unique. Though not as grandiose as the video game it is based on, the comic is still wholly worth your time if you’re a Zelda fan! (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 5/25/15

New Games (5-25-15)A random trip to Goodwill proved to be quite productive! There were several games at this location this week, and I’m starting to think this is my go-to Goodwill store now. We also happened to stop by GameStop where the 4 for $10 sale was still going on. Even when there are only like, two games that I want, I still find a way to pick up the entire deal. I just wish every GameStop had all the games I want and not just a few, because this is causing me to buy games I don’t really need/want. But that’s really nothing new. (more…)

Review: Mario Party 10

Mario Party 10 Logo

Mario been partying for more than 17 years and each new romp feels a little less exciting than the last. New minigames and features attempt to make the gala more extraordinary than the last, but as gamers have been keen to notice, the atmosphere around Mario’s parties have been  more lackluster than standout. After the lukewarm reception of Mario Party 9 on the Wii a few years back, many thought the series to be dead, or at best stagnant until some major changes came along. A new system means a new Mario Party, and though the sweeping changes the fanbase has begged for are nowhere to be seen, Mario Party 10 is still a fun game if you’ve got a group of friends to play it. The New New StreetPass Games are the Best StreetPass Games Yet, But…

StreetPass Games Logo

You may recall a year and a half ago Nintendo released four new games for the 3DS console used exclusively via the StreetPass function. The house that Mario built has recently released two brand new games to use with your StreetPassers on the 3DS. These new games use many of the same features as those past StreetPass games, but also add some much needed improvements as well as more dynamic gameplay. Released alongside these new games (and for an additional fee for no particular reason) are a handful of new options to improve your StreetPass experience as well. Though it seemed silly at first to have to pay for more options, if you’re serious about your StreetPassing you’ll want to check out everything Nintendo has to offer. (more…)
