The 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo is right around the corner, and what better way to get hyped up for the event than by speculating what the conference might have to offer? I did a list like this last year and came away with almost one correct prediction, so maybe this year will be more realistic (though I highly doubt it). Even so, getting just one of these to be true would be fantastic and would totally make my E3. One can hope… (more…)
Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii proved that the veteran Nintendo mascot wasn’t resting on his laurels: the big ape has plenty more adventures to go on and countless bananas to recover. Beautiful visuals, spot-on platforming, a wonderful variety of levels, and Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong at the helm once again made the Wii title an instant classic.
Barrel blast ahead to 2013 and we have Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D: a port of the game to the Nintendo 3DS. Amazingly, the 3DS version converts everything the original game had to offer, as well as adding a handful of exclusive new levels to challenge the heartiest of DK lovers. Unfortunately with this transition, Returns 3D manages to also retain some of the flaws of the first game and creates its own faults in the process. (more…)
Hot off the heels of the reveal of the Xbox One, the Bosscast returns with another brand new episode! This week Jett, Mat, and I are talking about the Super…
It was only two years ago that we were first shown just how fun a reverse tower-defense game could be with the release of Anomaly: Warzone Earth. Building mobile units to travel through a battlefield destroying powerful alien structures instead of defending stationary towers was a novel idea that gave the tower-defense genre a new layer of gameplay. With the release of Anomaly 2, 11 bit studios expands upon the “tower-offense” idea of the first game by adding a new transformation ability to the mix as well as a brand new storyline and deployable units to experience. Nearly five years have passed since we took on the role of Phoenix Wright, the up-and-coming defense attorney that shook the legal world back in 2005 on the Nintendo DS (2001 on the Game Boy Advance in Japan). Only a few months back we were graced with the announcement of a brand new Ace Attorney game from Capcom. Though Phoenix held his own in the fighting ring a la Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, getting back in the courtroom is where he’s most comfortable; cross-examining witnesses, finding contradictions, and spouting out catchphrase after catchphrase. The Bosscast is back with a special episode discussing the reveal of Microsoft's Xbox One! Mat, Jett, and I thrown down our thoughts about the games (or lack there of),…
Following the announcement of the successor to the Xbox 360 known as the Xbox One, reactions have been a jumbled collection of excitement, speculation of the future, questions about what was seen and what wasn’t seen, and a sense of wonder about the whole thing. So in other words, job well done to Microsoft for getting the community talking about their next box.
From a gamer’s standpoint however, I’m not entirely sure I’m on board at all with the Xbox One. My gut reaction is telling me to wait this thing about and see what the Xbox One delivers in the future, but as of right now there’s some questions I want answered. (more…)
I've uploaded the last five Sunday Roundups as videos on my YouTube channel. If you're sick of reading my mountains of text about each game, why not listen to me…
Special thanks go out this week to JJ I met over at Splitkick. He pointed me toward a special 25% off sale at the game store eStarland (who also have a dated looking website to order games).
I went nuts.
On top of that, I picked up a few games off Craigslist that I’ve been looking to purchase for years. Seriously, years! And each of them were fantastic prices. Read on, as there are quite a few games this week to browse.
