Sunday Roundup: 8/26/12

Games, games, and more games!

I said last time that I couldn’t recall any other instance where I came into possession of more games in one week, but it would appear I have outdone myself already. This week I found games from all over the place, and received a few at excellent prices from a friend looking to get rid of them! And this marks the first time where I’ve ever purchased video games from a convention (Gen Con Indy, to be exact), and that is something I’m definitely going to look into more. Let’s get into things then. (more…)

This Week in Gaming News: 8/18/12 – 8/24/12

Sad news this week: Nintendo Power is going to be no more by 2013. The veteran gaming magazine will publish its last copy this December. Let the tears fall…. now!

But in brighter news, there’s a sequel to Plants vs. Zombies coming, and maybe one to The World Ends With You. Oh, and the new Star Trek game, tied in with J. J. Abrams’ film, looks pretty sweet in a brand new trailer. Set phasers to FUN!

Review: Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

It was 10 years ago that gamers first picked up the keyblade, battled with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, and met the eager hero Sora in the very first Kingdom Hearts. The newest iteration of the game, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, is a step in the right direction for the action RPG series, introducing new gameplay mechanics, characters, and storylines. Though it’s not Kingdom Hearts 3 that gamers have been so eagerly craving, at least it has a 3 in the title. That counts, right?

Sunday Roundup: 8/12/12

This might be a record, folks. I don’t think I’ve every purchased this many games in one week. Not only that, but several of these games are highlights. Some are special because they are near and dear to my heart, some are special because they are hard to find gems, and some still are special because I was able to score them for a ridiculously good price. And I bought some crappy games for good measure. Come on, you didn’t think I’d leave you with your mouth hanging open with every game I bought, did you?

This Week in Gaming News: 8/4/12 – 8/11/12

Cross off Blizzard on the list of big gaming companies that have had their networks hacked. Speaking of companies who have been hacked, Valve had an interesting tidbit on their Team Fortress 2 site this week. And Sony made a few headlines regarding The Last Guardian and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Jason & Laura Play – Left 4 Dead 2: Cold Stream Act 1

With the recent release of Valve’s latest (and possibly) last DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2, I decided to once again enter the surprisingly enjoyable world of the zombie apocalypse on my Xbox 360. But this time I brought a friend to tag along. This is the first time either of us have played the Cold Stream campaign setting, so everything is fresh and true. And our shooting is way, WAY off. Enjoy! (more…)

This Week in Gaming News: 7/28/12 – 8/3/12

Due to being rather busy this week/weekend with work and personal life stuff (i.e. Graduation), this week’s Gaming News section is going to be truncated. I’ll use simple notes to get the news to you all. Next week should return to form. Thanks!

Review: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD

Tony Hawk has been synonymous with crappy peripherals and boring gameplay lately. The golden years of the Tony Hawk franchise of skateboarding games were more than a decade ago with the release of the first two games (and some can argue the third and fourth), but since then the series has taken a sharp turn for the worse. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is the first attempt to amend the issue by bringing back what made the first two games successful while improving the game’s visuals and adding online play.
