Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

Tokyo is being attacked by monsters, and not Godzilla or the pocket variety. In Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, the most recent release from Atlus and the creators of the Persona series, you take on the role of a handful of Tokyo teenagers who get caught up in a battle of angels and demons with the fate of the world in the balance. Devil Survivor Overclocked is an enhanced port for the Nintendo 3DS of 2009’s DS exclusive Devil Survivor. Merely two years after the original game came out does the 3DS release have enough power to pull gamers back in or is this battle already lost? (more…)

Review: Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition

When Street Fighter III: New Generation was first released back in 1997 gamers saw it as a mixed bag. The updated fighting system, visual style, and new roster of combatants was seen by Street Fighter loyalists as a move away from what they liked about the series . Players who gave the game a shot saw that Third Strike was one of the best fighting games ever made. Capcom has given gamers another chance to fight for the future with Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition for the Xbox 360. HD graphics, online play, and a fantastic fighting system make Third Strike Online Edition a must-play for any fighting fan. (more…)

Sunday Round-Up: 9/04/11

It’s a slow week this time around, and thankfully one of the last slow weeks for video game releases. Only two games (well, 5 technically, and 1 even more technically) were acquired this week, and both of them downloadable. I just suck at it. This week’s addition to the Modern Classics library is a jolly good game that will definitely make you feel dumb.

Review: No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise

No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is like a Quentin Tarantino movie: gratuitous violence, scantily clad babes, and a plot focused around killing. And that’s not a bad thing. Heroes’ Paradise is an enhanced port of the original Wii game, and it comes with a flashy new HD visual update, as well as a few extra goodies to keep the assassination fest going.

Modern Classics: Under the Skin

Join me as we delve deep into the catacombs that are my video game library. This week we have a lesser known Capcom title, Under the Skin. With frantic and zany action, high production values, and even a hefty nod to the Resident Evil franchise, it’s a shame more people haven’t played this lost gem. Read on and see why aliens with tiny ray guns can be your friends….
