Review: Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan

Etrian Odyssey IV CoverI recently had the opportunity to review a game very similar to Etrian Odyssey IV on the 3DS, Unchained Blades, itself a port from the PSP. I reference this past review because Etrian Odyssey IV does everything right that Unchained Blades did wrong. This fourth installment in the Atlus dungeon crawling RPG series is the best entry the entire genre has seen in a long time, and if we’re lucky it will start a steady influx of quality titles.

I was shocked by how good Etrian Odyssey IV was. Being an Atlus title I expected some quality but nothing on the level EOIV stands. The game has managed the phenominal task of making incessant grinding fun! Seriously… that’s a hard feat to accomplish but Etrian Odyssey IV manages that and more. RPG fans on the go owe it to themselves to check this one out immediately (or at least play the demo).

Massive FOE's will plague you around every turn. So it's all the sweeter when you finally defeat them!
