Review: Foul Play

Foul Play LogoGather ‘round my friends, and let’s listen to the gentlemanly tales of Baron Dashforth and his companion Mr. Scampwick. Stories full of skullduggery, malicious villains, and the most treacherous foe of all… repetition! Foul Play is a side scrolling beat ‘em up disguised as a theatre performance. While some innovative ideas separate the game from others in its genre, Foul Play is held back from greatness by simple combat and repetitive gameplay.

Foul Play had some awesome parts and some just okay parts. The animation and humor, along with the theater setting, won me over and gave me enough incentive to play through the mediocre parts. If you’ve got a friend to play with then it’ll give you a few nights of fun for sure!

Foul Play Gameplay 1
It’s not quite as terrifying when you can see the actors’ faces under the werewolf masks.
