Review: Retro City Rampage

What started out as a side project has turned into one of the biggest trips down memory lane for anyone who grew up in the 80s or 90s. Retro City Rampage pays homage to countless movies, TV shows, and video games from decades past, all wrapped up in an 8-bit package. The nostalgic setting and pop culture humor though make Retro City Rampage a game for a specific type of player.

There is a lot to like in Retro City Rampage, but only if you have been playing video game for the past twenty years. You’re liking of the game will be directly correlated to how much you know about other popular games. That being said, the gameplay, while varied in the stages, ultimately break down to the same task over and over again. But if you can get past all that, you’ll enjoy your time in Theftropolis!

It’s GTA if it were on the NES! And featuring just about every famous video game character.

The more I hear about this, the more I want to play it. Digging this 8-bit and 16-bit renaissance, so to speak. Good review, man.

Much appreciated! If you have any liking for old school, retro gaming, then there’s really no reason to NOT get this one. If it’s a money issue, I’m sure there will be a Steam sale soon, with the holidays rolling around.
