Review: Skylanders: Giants

Last year’s release of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure surprised everyone with its ridiculously successful fusion of toys and video games. With this success it was inevitable that Activision would make a sequel, and here we are one year later with Skylanders: Giants. Taking the best parts of the first game and expanding them to new heights, Giants is everything you’d want in a sequel and is possibly this generation’s Pokemon.

Collecting tiny toy figurines was also fun in and of itself, but now those tiny toy figurines come to life in a pretty sweet video game! Skylanders: Giants completely surpassed my expectations. I thought the game would be a quick cash-in for the popular series, with nothing more than additional levels and toys to spend money on. But the game is actually a full-fledged sequel, complete with said new levels and story, as well as additional game moves, an semi-deep leveling system, charming visuals, and a rather high replay value. If you’ve got the money, you need to check this one out. It’s going to be big :p

That’s just Tree Rex. He likes to pick up boulders and throw them at things. No biggie.

I've been writing about video games for years and playing them even longer. You'll find me playing all types of games, old and new. Mega Man III is greater than Mega Man II.
