A World of Games: Arcade Tokens and Tickets

It has been a hobby of mine for the last several years to collect arcade tokens and tickets. When ever I am out and happen to see an arcade, I try to stop in to first see what they have to offer, and second to see if they have any tickets or tokens to add to my collection. After more than 10 years of doing this, I was surprised both by the variety in coins/tickets I’ve found, and also the rise of the game card as arcade currency. I finally got around to photographing my collection and even created a Tumblr account to house all my pics. But I wanted to share with you all what I’ve got so far, and to open up your eyes to the strangely beautiful world of video arcade memorabilia.

Video Game Hunting & Collecting 101

One of the most exciting part about being a gamer is the joy of finding a new game. It’s always great when a new title comes out, especially for a series you’ve played in the past and enjoyed (like Marvel vs. Capcom 3), but I’m talking about when you find an older game. One you’ve been looking to find for a long time. One that might be a rare spectacle in and of itself. These are the exciting moments I’m talking about. After eight or so years, I think I’ve amassed quite a collection of titles, and I’ve learned a good deal from my experiences. Gameplay Vault: Xotic

Xotic is a first-person shooter/arcade style hybrid game released for the Xbox 360. The game is indie in design, but has a lot going for it, including relatively high production values and an interesting premise to say the least. Unfortunately the game just doesn’t work as well as it should. I recorded some gameplay for you all to see, and you can hear my commentary about the game as well. Check it out…

Worth Playing vol. 2: The Fighting Edition

If you’ve been playing games at all the last two years or so you’ve probably noticed the fairly large amount of fighting games being released. It’s a second coming for the fighter, which saw most of its best entries come out in the 90s. I decided to take a look back at some of the fighting games I remember playing when I was younger, as well as some of more current titles that can slug it out with the best of them.

Get ready fighters.

Go for it, man!

Review: BloodRayne: Betrayal

If you’ve played games for years there’s inevitably a few that have slipped through the cracks. BloodRayne is one of those series for me, and I can safely say the extent of my BloodRayne knowledge is that the main character is a half-vampire, Uwe Boll makes horrible movies about her, and she’s appeared in Playboy. But with the newest title, BloodRayne: Betrayal, I was finally able to sink my teeth into the series.
