Sunday Roundup: 8/3/14
Get ready folks, this is a big one.
After a lovely trip back home to Indiana to visit my family and see some old friends, I’m back in California where it still hasn’t rained in months! Severe drought aside, I have to say this trip back home was a blast, and coming home to The Bay with two dozen new video games to add to the collection is quite an accomplishment as well. I don’t think I’ve picked up this many games in a single week since I grabbed a ton of games right before I actually moved out west. Coincidentally, I went to nearly every game store I went to then, and managed to pick up something from all of them! There are even a couple gems in this mix, so let’s get started!

Sunday Roundup: 6/29/14
Wow, what an amazing week! It was my birthday on Thursday, and Laura picked up a few great titles for me to add to the collection. Not only that, she thought about the ones that we could play together and grabbed a few of those as well! My brother actually delivered a few games as well, both of which were very unexpected! Lastly, I checked out a GameStop I hadn’t been to in several months and found two awesome Wii games. I took a couple days off from work, so I was actually able to play some of these games as well. One of the game’s wasn’t as good as I was hoping, but I knew it wouldn’t be great to begin with, and the other really makes me want to play more.

Sunday Roundup: 6/22/14
There’s a local place that sells used video games that I’ve mentioned before on the blog. The store owner picked up shop and moved to a bigger (better?) location, but still within reasonable driving distance to our place. I ventured there this week to see how his new digs were doing. To find the directions however, I had to look up his Facebook page. When I was there I noticed a link to another, much further away, used game shop that will be closing down later this month. I had a day off and I was in a video game buying mood, so I decided to check out both places. Sunday Roundup: 5/4/14
Sadly there aren’t any Star Wars games adorning this May 4th Sunday Roundup, but there are plenty of brand new Nintendo games to enjoy! This is the second time that Nintendo has released two, what I would consider, big releases on the same day: Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf: World Tour. They did something similar in November of last year with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on 3DS and Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. While Kirby and golf aren’t nearly as high profile as Zelda and 3D Mario, it’s still two games that probably could have been spread out for Nintendo’s summer lineup. Regardless, I bought them both. Sunday Roundup: 4/20/14
I was trying to think of some way to tie in Easter with this week’s roundup of games, but I couldn’t really think of any way ninjas or talking gorillas could be incorporated. I guess Mario (and to a lesser extent Wario) have some affiliation with Yoshi, who produces eggs by defeating enemies. I’m not going to dive any further into this failed analogy…
But I will tell you that a semi-sweet deal at GameStop lead me to these games. Usually the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal is a great time for me to go nuts, but this weekend it was altered to only include games $20 or under. Kind of lame, but thankfully there are plenty of games under twenty bucks that I’d want to buy. Four, apparently!
