Gameplay Vault: Fusion: Genesis

A newly released Xbox Live Arcade shooter, Fusion: Genesis combines the action of dual-stick shooting with the upgrading of RPGs. I felt there was a bit too much emphasis placed on the managing of ships and upgrades and not enough focus on the action, but this is still a good title that lets you live out your space mercenary dreams.

Gameplay Vault: Skeleton Warriors

I found this title earlier in the week at a used game store for two bucks. Needless to say, my hopes weren’t high. The game came out sometime around the launch of the original Playstation in 1996 (about a year after initial release), and for an early title it’s not horrible. Just watch and see for yourself.

Gameplay Vault: Dungeon Defenders

After having a grand time with Orcs Must Die!, I decided to delve even deeper in the genre that is tower defense and downloaded Dungeon Defenders for the Xbox 360. Another tower defense/RPG title, Dungeon Defenders has a focus on multiplayer co-op and grinding out levels as you would in a game like World of Warcraft. Well, a game with this many comparisons has to be somewhat decent, and not surprisingly it is. Check out the videos and see for yourself.

Gameplay Vault: Guardian Heroes

Newly released for the Xbox 360, the Sega Saturn classic side-scrolling beat-em up Guardian Heroes is here to shine down upon a whole new generation of gamers. I had a few good hours with the game already and recorded my adventure to the end of the game. Check the game out here and enjoy!

Gameplay Vault: Orcs Must Die!

I’ve gotten a lot of play time in with the new Xbox Live Arcade tower defense/action title Orcs Must Die! Last night I decided to plug in the ol’ mic and record some thoughts of the gameplay. The mic work sucks (sorry, first time recording while playing: I’ll improve for future vids), but it’s still a decent video. Check it out.

Review: Barbarian

So a game catches my eye and I pick it up. “10 different characters each with their own massive storyline and quest,” “10 huge multi-levled fighting arenas,” and even an “RPG character upgrade system depending on experience earned.” This game seems to have everything I want in a fighter. Well, I wasn’t quite thinking straight this day. Barbarian for the PS2 is a sluggish and non-thrilling 3D fighter that has great potential but falls well short of the finish line.

Sunday Round-Up: 9/04/11

It’s a slow week this time around, and thankfully one of the last slow weeks for video game releases. Only two games (well, 5 technically, and 1 even more technically) were acquired this week, and both of them downloadable. Don’t worry though, I’ve got an extra treat just for those loyal fans out there (so all 2 of you).

Modern Classics: Intelligent Qube

Let’s take a look at a lesser known puzzle game for the PS1. Intelligent Qube for the PS1 is a puzzle game that has you taking out cubes (or qubes) on a grid of other cubes (or qubes) while avoiding falling off said cubes (or qubes). And it works quite well. I just suck at it. This week’s addition to the Modern Classics library is a jolly good game that will definitely make you feel dumb.
