With Halloween right around the corner, I thought of my previous Halloween-themed post and thought I needed to do something more “traditional.” While I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to horror games, I have dabbled in the genre and come out fairly frightened and thoroughly entertained on many occasions. The bigger the game, the more likely I am to play it, so all the Resident Evil’s and Dead Space’s tend to stay on my radar, while the smaller scary games like Amnesia (though, apparently, just as valid if not better than the aforementioned series’) are just not going to see my time. Despite this, my list of “Scariest Video Games” is likely not the same as anyone else, mainly because what I consider to be my most frightening moments don’t necessarily come from the survival horror genre. Let’s reminiscence about the scariest moments in gaming before Halloween is upon us! Read more about My Scariest Moments in Gaming …
Rather than give you the full intro for the Sunday Roundup, I’m going to direct you to an article I wrote a while back about Goodwill. I’ve spoken at length about Goodwill and thrift shops being a game hunters friend. I’ve reminisced about how I found rare games or totally insane deals while sifting through the racks, and I’ve always accented these stories with the one or two exceptional finds I’ve found (i.e. Diablo on PS1). Well, I’m tacking on another title to that list this week!
As 2011 comes to an end, I thought it would be a cool idea to look back at the year in games. Specifically, the year in games added to my ever-growing library. If you’re a frequent visitor to the site (I greatly hope you are!) you’ll no doubt know I do a weekly blog post about my newest games. So below I’ve collected every game I added this year (well, really only half-year, because I started this blog in late July). I’ve also linked any relevant posts I’ve done about said games, like reviews, Modern Classics, and gameplay videos. Enjoy the small retrospective, and here’s to another fantastic year in gaming in 2012!
Join me as we delve deep into the catacombs that are my video game library. This week we have a lesser known Capcom title, Under the Skin. With frantic and zany action, high production values, and even a hefty nod to the Resident Evil franchise, it’s a shame more people haven’t played this lost gem. Read on and see why aliens with tiny ray guns can be your friends….
