The City Wide garage sale was this weekend, and while I picked up a good haul of games, most of them were for reselling later (including a copy of Parasite Eve on PS1 for just $2!). There were, however, a couple of games I grabbed from a Craigslist seller I simply couldn’t believe were still available. And then the Dragon Quest VII port finally released on 3DS this week, so there are a ton of games to go over. Let’s get right into it! (more…)
Combining two weeks of Roundups today because I’ve been so busy with work, going to an anime convention the past weekend, and having family visit from out of state! I’ve still managed to fit in some quality game shopping time (and plenty of time with Splatoon!), and even came across a few great finds at Goodwill as well! Let’s get right into it. (more…)
Sometimes a game character goes away. Every now and then they come back.
Sometimes a game character comes back. Every now and then it doesn’t go as planned.
While this list could almost entirely be populated by Sonic the Hedgehog reboots, I’ll limit it to just one reboot per franchise. Regardless, having to place a limit on how many times a franchise can be on a “Top Ten Failed Video Game Reboots” list should tell you something. (more…)
A strange week this week. I can’t recall any other week in which I bought this many loose games (garage sales notwithstanding). As the DS is reaching the last few months of its lifespan at retailers shelves, the likelihood of finding any games complete anymore is a dream which only occasionally comes to fruition. With that in mind, I decided to peruse the loose DS game stacks at three separate GameStop’s and came up with some great finds! Now I’m actually curious about other loose finds at other stores, so I think I’m going to be looking through those racks more often. Oh, and more games from eBay! Yay!! (more…)
For as awful and button-mashy as Sonic the Fighters is, I still really want to see a fully fleshed out sequel! [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6KoCYZZx2s&w=560&h=315] Laters, Jsick
Some of you may already know that I’ve been reading a few video game themed comic books as of late. I wrote an article or two a few months back about some of the various Mega Man comics/mangas, and I am still reading and enjoying those series’. More recent Jsick news is that I’ve been reading and loving the old Sonic the Hedgehog comics by Archie. So much so that I’ve decided to create a brand new section here on Slick Gaming for you all to experience and enjoy the comics with me! Here’s, I’ll give you a little tour… (more…)
After Sonic Generations came out and took us back through the entirety of the blue hedgehog’s past, Sega has released the one-time Sega CD exclusive Sonic CD on the Xbox 360. Being released on the ill-fated Sega CD meant that many gamers never got their hands on one of the last great 2D Sonic titles. Now that Sega has made the game available for download nearly 20 years after its initial release, all can experience one of Sonic’s best outings.
How many times is Sonic the Hedgehog going to “come back?” I understand that people want him to return to form and be in a game akin to the original trilogy back on the Sega Genesis, but seriously! Every time he’s in a new title gamers bring the topic up. Perhaps out of sympathy for said gamers or sheer coincidence, Sonic Generations for the 3DS attempts to address these problems by allowing players to control two distinct Sonics from the series’ expansive library. Two Sonics also means twice the Tails, which strangely means four tails, which if you think about it… never mind, just keep reading.
