How About These Lesser Known Games for a PlayStation Classic?

Sony announced the final lineup of titles for the forthcoming PlayStation classic retro console, and it was… unexpected? Many gamers will see the list (which you can see here) and find a few games they liked playing yesteryear, but will find many more glaring omissions from a console claiming to be a “classic”. Countless outlets have posted lists on the games they’d like to see in a PS1 Classic console, but I wanted to focus on more obsure games that could go in to a PS1 retro console. Here are 20 hidden gems/less common, but still excellent original PlayStation games I’d love to have seen on the PlayStation Classic. (more…)

It's been months since I was able to get behind my desktop, record some voiceover, edit a heck of a lot of video, and make a new review, but here…

Top Ten E3 2015 Moments

E3 2015 Banner

All the excitement and buildup to the year’s biggest video game show has come and gone, and left in its wake are dozens of new game announcements, trailers, demos, and press conferences. On the whole I felt this year’s E3 dwells in comparisons to last years (which may stem from my Nintendo fandom), but nonetheless there were plenty of great experiences to take away from this years show. Even if Capcom didn’t announce¬†Power Stone 3 yet. (more…)

Top Ten Dream E3 2015 Predictions

E3 2015 Banner

It’s that time of year again. E3 is this week, and with it will come the best and most exciting video game announcements, trailers, demos, and releases for the upcoming year. Many companies benchmark their entire remainder of the year on this show, making or breaking 2015 before it even finishes. Rampant speculation fuels the show year in and year out, and this year is no exception: a few days out of the show and there have already been announcements and rumors flying. But if I could have things 100% my way, we’d be gearing up to hear the following ten announcements at E3 2015. (more…)

Review: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call Banner

When a game series has been around for the better part of two decades you would expect there to be some standout entries amongst the spread of games. And, undoubtedly, whichever your favorite game is won’t be someone else’s favorite. Final Fantasy is no exception to this, with 14 numbered games in the series and dozens of spinoffs, re-releases, and games in Japan that we’ll never get the chance to play here in America. One of those spinoffs was 2012’s oddly titled Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a rhythm based game encompassing many of the series’ most iconic music tracks in a somewhat RPG-like experience on the 3DS. Though that game was remarkably fun (read my review and see why!), the sequel, Theatrhyhm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, literally makes the original game obsolete. (more…)

Useful Tips for Playing Bravely Default You Probably Didn't Know

Bravely Default Agnes Art

By now you all probably know that Square Enix’s new RPG Bravely Default has captivated me unlike any game has as of late. You also might know that there are quite a few “Tips for Playing Bravely Default” articles out there. I mean like… a lot. A lot a lot. Something I’ve noticed though about these helpful articles is that, well, not all of them are all that helpful. I mean sure, most of them are great for beginning players. But I’m not a beginning player anymore. I’m needing help in other areas. That is where most of these “Tip” articles fall out of relevance.

For those of you that already have a grasp on the Job system, those players out there that have maxed out the shops in Norende, the gamers who have already awakened the four crystals, I have a few actual end-game (or near end-game, for that matter) tips and advice that you probably didn’t know you wanted/needed. Top Ten "Non-Final Fantasy" Final Fantasy Games

Kingdom Hearts 358 2 Days Art

You can’t be as venerable as the Final Fantasy series without spawning a few spinoffs. Usually the spinoff is a chance to use some of the same mechanics as the core series but make something drastically different: perhaps a totally different battle system, completely different approach to story, and sometimes just a celebration of the many years of success the source series has entertained. Regardless of the influence, there have been dozens of spinoffs and pseudo-sequels for Final Fantasy games, and none more awesome than the ten below.
