Sadly there aren’t any Star Wars games adorning this May 4th Sunday Roundup, but there are plenty of brand new Nintendo games to enjoy! This is the second time that Nintendo has released two, what I would consider, big releases on the same day: Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf: World Tour. They did something similar in November of last year with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on 3DS and Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. While Kirby and golf aren’t nearly as high profile as Zelda and 3D Mario, it’s still two games that probably could have been spread out for Nintendo’s summer lineup. Regardless, I bought them both. I was trying to think of some way to tie in Easter with this week’s roundup of games, but I couldn’t really think of any way ninjas or talking gorillas could be incorporated. I guess Mario (and to a lesser extent Wario) have some affiliation with Yoshi, who produces eggs by defeating enemies. I’m not going to dive any further into this failed analogy…
But I will tell you that a semi-sweet deal at GameStop lead me to these games. Usually the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal is a great time for me to go nuts, but this weekend it was altered to only include games $20 or under. Kind of lame, but thankfully there are plenty of games under twenty bucks that I’d want to buy. Four, apparently!
Ocean Commander Wii Release Date: March 31st, 2009 Purchased at: Amazon (Online - $5) After a long fought battle of trying to find this game for under $1 in some…
Weeks like this make me feel equally proud and kind of sad to be a collector. This week brought in a few truly excellent finds, as well as some games that were too good a deal to pass up. However, there’s always a caveat, this week it was being damn expensive. Usually I pride myself on picking up games on the cheap, hitting my magic price or under. No matter how hard you try though, you’ll soon discover if you haven’t already that some games are just expensive, and they probably aren’t going down in price any time soon. Before we get into this week’s haul, I feel like I can squeeze one more plug into a previous article. Let’s see, what would work… Oh, gotcha! And this as well! (more…)
Dewy's Adventure Wii Release Date: September 18th, 2007 Purchased at: GameStop (Cupertino, CA - $2) Man, what a deal on this one! Dewy's Adventure is supposed to be a decent…
This week’s roundup is full of portable games: The DS is represented well, the 3DS comes in with a sub-par launch game, and a brand new, sealed copy of one of the best PSP games I played. If that’s not enough, there’s a first in this batch as well! And you know what, I might actually play some of these games!
This week’s Sunday Roundup has been long overdue, with all of the games actually coming into my collection prior to last Sunday. But, seeing as I was busy with work and a multitude of other tasks last week, I wasn’t able to get it written until today. Nonetheless, there are eight games here spanning seven systems. I kind of like it when they’re all for different systems: it’s like spreading out the wealth amongst the lonely consoles. And whenever I can procure a GameCube game I feel even better about the purchase!
Man, it has been awhile since I had a true Sunday Roundup to talk about! Just one game is fine and all, but let’s face it: Just one game isn’t going to cut it for expanding upon one’s collection now is it? Speaking of collections, this week is comprised mostly of Dreamcast games, a system I am always on the lookout for but never seem to come across. So here’s to you Space Cat, and to more fruitful visits!
Dropcast DS Release Date: September 22nd, 2008 Purchased at: GameStop (San Jose, CA - $5) The cover for this game caught my eye first, and then the somewhat intriguing gameplay…
