Review: Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy

You have to give credit to a series being around for 25 years. Mario, Link, Mega Man, the Street Fighter gang, and even Kirby have been around for well over 20 years. And then there’s Final Fantasy. A series whose very name implies there will only be one, yet a series that has been in gamers’ hearts for 25 years. 25 years of games means 25 years of music, and that’s saying a lot for a series as respected as Final Fantasy. To celebrate the quarter century mark for the franchise, Square Enix released Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy. Bringing together the heroes of all 13 numbered games in the series and infusing the gameplay with plenty of music and rhythmical action, Theatrhythm is a love letter to Final Fantasy fans. Now Playing: Christmas Games

There’s always video games on my Christmas list. Ever since I can remember I’ve always asked for a game (usually more than one) for Christmas. Year after year I am always delighted and truly grateful each time I pick up a package that’s in the shape of a game and wonder what it could be. Like a kid with any new toy, after I open up each present all I can think about is how fun it’s going to be to actually play with my new gift. This past week I’ve been lucky enough to not only have some time off work, but also extra free time to sit down and play several of these games already. Sunday Roundup: 12/30/12

Here it is. The final Sunday Roundup of the year.

And what a year it’s been. dozens of great games came out in 2012 (with some included in this week’s Roundup!), and even more stellar games came my way this year as well.

The final Sunday Roundup of 2012 includes not only games I picked up myself throughout the week but also the handful of excellent Christmas gifts I received from family and loved ones. Thank you so much for all the gifts everyone. And now to just play them all 🙂 (more…)

Gaming News: 12/15/12

You might be thinking, “Jsick, it’s the end of the year, surely the only news to report on is Game of the Year stories from around the internet?” Well faithful reader, you’d be disappointed to know that I am not reporting anything this week on GotY shenanigans. Not yet at least.

There was actually a handful of newsworthy stories this week, some good, some bad.
