Sunday Roundup: 1/25/15

New Games (1-25-15)A massive haul from several Goodwill’s around the area helped to make this first official Sunday Roundup of 2015 a big one. There isn’t anything extraordinary in the haul this week, but there are some fun titles and some titles I’ve been sitting on for a long time. I also continued the trend of buying the entire Tony Hawk’s series someone keeps donating. Eventually I’ll run out of games/consoles I don’t have yet, so I’ll need to think of something else to do in the meantime.  (more…)

Top Ten Pick Ups of 2014

Lost in Shadow CoverIn lieu of the usual Yearly Roundup, where I recount every game added to the collection over the past year, this year I’ve decided to do something different. As with every year here on SlickGaming there are many excellent finds and surprising deals on video games each and ever month, and I’ve always had a blast sharing them all with you. But now it’s time to look at the best of the best from 2014. I purchase a lot of games that are, for better or worse, padding to the collection. Now it’s time to look past those and determine the best, most exciting, and generally awesome finds of the last year. The following games (or groups of games) were the most impressive additions to the catalog in 2014. They’re not necessarily the rarest or most hard to find, but rather the most memorable pickups and greatest deals. (more…)

A Hands on with PlayStation Now

PlayStation Now Logo

While attending this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, I was able to stop by the Sony booth and get a hands-on demo with PlayStation Now, Sony’s online streaming service for the PlayStation line of products. Having just announced a new subscription service at the beginning of the show, the online streaming service is beginning to become more enticing for price of admission. Before I decide to plop down $20 a month for the service, I was able to demo the service’s capabilities at the show, as well as ask some questions to Jack Buser, the Senior Director of the PlayStation now brand. Sunday Roundup: 12/28/14

Mario Bros ChristmasI’m late on getting this Christmas themed Sunday Roundup out, but after the holiday itself, and the craziness that was my job, followed by the fun times had on New Year’s Eve, and then a week long vacation in Las Vegas and getting to see the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, I barley had any time to write! Because of that, I have actually combined the last three weeks into this one Roundup. Honestly, it really just contains the games from the holidays, as I didn’t buy but one game afterward, but to be perfectly fair, you all know. Also, this is the last Roundup of 2014! And I have to say, it was an exceptional way to end the year indeed! (more…)

Holiday Gaming Memories

Mega Man Christmas

With the Holiday season in full swing (nay, almost over), I began reminiscing about past Christmases and all the happy holiday moments I’ve had. As with last year, I’m in California away from my family, but that doesn’t mean I won’t still create new memories that will last a lifetime! Anyway, there have been some truly excellent gaming related Christmas memories that I want to share with you all. (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 12/14/14

New Games (12-14-14)Another sale at GameStop this week has perhaps changed my mind about the company’s policy regarding, well, sales. But the real find this week was a handful of original Xbox games at Goodwill. Don’t get too excited though: this isn’t nearly as grand a find as the GameCube games a few months back, but it’s still decent.  (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 12/7/14

New Games (12-7-14)For one reason or another, sales didn’t really happen this year at GameStop. There would be some nice Buy 2 Get 1 Free deals in years past, but there were none this year in the truest since. Occasionally I saw a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal on used games $20 or less, but that was relatively limiting on the new stuff. Thankfully, as you all know so well, that usually doesn’t apply to me! Wrap around to this week, and we finally see a great deal come up at the store: 40% off used games under $20. If that “Under $20” tagline is the new way for sales at the store, I’ll be disappointed. There are some games worth the cheap price, but a lot of titles I’d love to have for that sale just don’t work. Anyway, here are this week’s games! (more…)
