Review: Dragon Age: Inquisition

It’s been over three years since we last explored Ferelden and the world of Thedas, and gamers have been yearning for a game to cleanse their palate of Dragon Age…

Top Ten Failed Video Game Reboots

Sonic Boom Banner

Sometimes a game character goes away. Every now and then they come back.

Sometimes a game character comes back. Every now and then it doesn’t go as planned.

While this list could almost entirely be populated by Sonic the Hedgehog reboots, I’ll limit it to just one reboot per franchise. Regardless, having to place a limit on how many times a franchise can be on a “Top Ten Failed Video Game Reboots” list should tell you something. (more…)

Review: Fantasy Life

Fantasy Life Logo

Level-5, the company behind the elite DS/3DS Professor Layton series, has stepped into the world of fantasy RPG with the aptly titled Fantasy Life. Parts Final Fantasy, parts Animal Crossing, and a healthy dose of Diablo-like gameplay, Fantasy Life is a game that has a lot to offer gamers on the go. Small nuisances keep this life from being the greatest, but the game offers such an extensive amount of content you’ll have plenty of activities to keep you happy for dozens of hours.

Sunday Roundup: 11/9/14

New Games (11-9-14)I can officially say the craziness of the eBay auctions has officially ended this week. The last couple of orders have come in, and there is only one more game that I’ve ordered that I’m waiting on (which should have been here by now, because I ordered it well over two weeks ago). This week was also special because a coworker of mine actually gave me some of her old, albeit beat up, Sega Saturn games! And Laura and I made a trip to San Jose we don’t commonly make, and I was able to secure a copy of a game to finish up a DS trilogy. All around a fun week in collecting! (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 11/2/14

New Games (11-2-14)After a small vacation last weekend, I’ve combined two weeks worth of games for this Roundup. And to justify why there are so many games this week so I don’t feel too bad about myself, after the previous Roundup I also happened to buy some games, so really… it’s three week’s worth of games. That makes this massive pile of games more reasonable sounding, right?

Right?

My Scariest Moments in Gaming

Resident Evil Licker

With Halloween right around the corner, I thought of my previous Halloween-themed post and thought I needed to do something more “traditional.” While I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to horror games, I have dabbled in the genre and come out fairly frightened and thoroughly entertained on many occasions. The bigger the game, the more likely I am to play it, so all the Resident Evil’s and Dead Space’s tend to stay on my radar, while the smaller scary games like Amnesia (though, apparently, just as valid if not better than the aforementioned series’) are just not going to see my time. Despite this, my list of “Scariest Video Games” is likely not the same as anyone else, mainly because what I consider to be my most frightening moments don’t necessarily come from the survival horror genre. Let’s reminiscence about the scariest moments in gaming before Halloween is upon us! (more…)

Sunday Roundup: 10/19/14

New Games (10-19-14)Another fairly hefty sized haul this week continues the recent trend of ridiculous amounts of games being accumulated each week! And just like last week there’s a mix of GameStop finds and eBay pick-ups. I have decided that I need to slow down on the eBay buys. Not really because of the money issue, but because I’ve not been getting the greatest deals on some of these games. And yeah, the money does make a difference. So from now on I’ve decided I’m going to look online for some stuff, but just throw out some low-ball bids and see what happens. Strangely enough, it’s already amounted to 4 games :p So get ready for another huge Roundup next week. (more…)
