HOLY CRAP THE NEW ELDER SCROLLS GAME IS GOING TO BE AN MMO!!

Oh, and there’s a new Call of Duty coming out or something…

The Elder Scrolls Online gets revealed

If there is any series of RPG that can compete with World of Warcarft in the MMO field, it would be Final Fantasy The Elder Scrolls‘ series. After the tumultuous successes that were Oblivion and Skyrim, Bethesda has taken the series in a new direction. Little is known about the game at this time, and it is still in early stages of development, but that hasn’t stopped this news juggernaut from being the biggest surprise announcement of the week (perhaps even the year!). Valve isn’t going to be announcing any new games at this year’s E3

I can’t say I’m surprised. The company that Steam built will BE at this year’s expo, but they won’t be promoting anything new. No Half-Life 3, no Left 4 Dead 3, no Portal 3. This leaves me wondering what they’re even doing at the show then… I suppose Counter Strike: Global Offensive is still coming out soon. Oh, and then there’s that DOTA 2 game. We’ll see what Valve has in store for us when E3 kicks off in (holy crap!) a month. (Source: Joystiq)

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 gets announced; shatters pre-order records

The worst kept secret in the gaming industry this week was unveiled to all, as Treyarch and Activision announced the sequel to the monster that is Call of Duty would be coming out this November. Black Ops 2 takes place in the not-too-distant future where a terrorist group threatens the security of the entire world, blah blah blah. You’ve played it before, but you’ll buy it again. And people are sure ready to buy it. Amazon.com is reporting that Black Ops 2 single day pre-orders were three times higher than that of the first Black Ops. People like their first-person espionage and slaughter it seems. (Source: PC Magazine)

These awesome Plants vs. Zombies plush toys exist. And you can buy them!

I’m a sucker for gaming swag, especially when it falls into the “soft” and/or “cuddly” category. PopCap this week announced that the first line of PvZ official merch will be available in the coming months/years. Aside from the stuffed versions of your favorite undead fighting plants, you can also get wallets, wall decals, calendars, and more. PopCap also states that others games will be getting the merchandising treatment. Here’s hoping I can get a real life Peggle board game! (Source: PopCap)
