Thanksgiving Game Sales Galore!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Whether or not you’re living in the United States and celebrate the holiday, there’s always reason to be thankful during this time of year (and any time of year, for that matter). A few notable examples are family, friends, and of course the holiday sales on all your favorite video games! Here’s a quick run-down on what’s for sale and where. And if you’re one to avoid massive crowds and don’t want to go out this weekend, then I’ve got plenty of deals for you online as well. Take a look!

Of course Amazon.com is having a massive sale on just about everything you can imagine, not the least of which being video games! While their Lightning Deals come and go in a matter of hours, there are still plenty of deals to take advantage of your wallet.
I’m looking to pick up Skylanders: Giants for the Wii tomorrow, and a few of console bundles have me debating if I really need a PS Vita. Definitely the go-to site for a gamer looking for cheap gift ideas and a little something for themselves as well.
Amazon also has one hell of a good deal on downloadable games as well!

Gog.com, the biggest rival to Steam in terms of digital distribution has a good sale going on as well. They’ve got a “Pick 5, Pay $10” deal going on. The list of games include some standout indie titles as well as bigger budget games, including Anomaly: Warzone Earth and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. Not only that, but there are other discounted games as well for your picking.

Speaking of Steam, it almost wouldn’t be a holiday if there weren’t some amazing deals from them now would it? And amazing is a good way to describe things. Again, there are deals that are only good for a day or two, and at the time of this writing they include some savings on XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Darksiders II among others. And there’s also savings on plenty other games, both indie and big company titles. One of the best things about any Steam sale is just checking back and seeing what is on sale, from brand new games to games from the past. Oh, and also note, Steam announced their Christmas Holiday sale will start December 20th. Get ready to spend!

Naturally, the retailer GameStop is having a savings fest in honor of Black Friday and the big shopping weekend. As with every GameStop Black Friday sale, some deals are only on Friday, some are only through the weekend, and some will be gone before you can even get there! The big draws in my opinion are truly fantastic console bundles, including a $250 Xbox 360 Bundle with Black Ops II, Skyrim, and Forza 4. I’m excited for the Buy 2 Pre-owned products get 1 Free deal as well. This is likely the first place gamers/parents will go to get video game gifts for the holiday, so expect the retailer to be picked over and very busy this weekend. But if you make it out, have some fun!

The monster that is Walmart has some pretty good game deals too, if you don’t mind getting something a bit older. While there are savings on new games like Assassin’s Creed III and Black Ops II, the real good deals are on titles from last season and select newer games. L.A. Noire, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Saints Row 2, Dead Island, all $10 each. Even better, newer games XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Borderlands 2, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 are just $25 each! There’s plenty more on sale too, so Walmart might be the place to go this year to snag a great deal.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! Enjoy your day tomorrow, have fun with your family and friends, and maybe, just maybe, get a good game at a good price to treat yourself.

Laters,
Jsick

Too…many…deals. I went a little overboard this time. Ended up buying a Vita thanks to Amazon’s crazy $180 package. There was no way I could pass up the system, 4gb card and two free games for that price. Not to mention the three free months of PS+ and a $10 off coupon for Assassin’s Creed III.

That really is a great deal on the Vita. The only deal that I was eying was also the Vita bundles, but I ultimately decided against it just because aside from Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted, there were no other games I’d want to play at this time. But I’m sure I’ll get one in the future. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the system!
