Sadly there aren’t any Star Wars games adorning this May 4th Sunday Roundup, but there are plenty of brand new Nintendo games to enjoy! This is the second time that Nintendo has released two, what I would consider, big releases on the same day: Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf: World Tour. They did something similar in November of last year with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on 3DS and Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. While Kirby and golf aren’t nearly as high profile as Zelda and 3D Mario, it’s still two games that probably could have been spread out for Nintendo’s summer lineup. Regardless, I bought them both.
Wii Party U Wii U Release Date: October 25th, 2013 Purchased at: Online (Amazon – $35) Each title this weeks comes courtesy of Amazon.com. There are a handful of games that I keep an eye out on Amazon, waiting for them to go down in price. Whatever the price is on one day, it likely won’t be the same the next, or even just a few hours later. So when the price for Wii Party U dropped to just $35, I had to bite! It’s a solid Wii U party game, but the real kicker is that it comes packaged with a Wii Remote Plus! That’s a $40 controller for less than $40 AND a video game! Those are the deals I like. Oh, and the game itself is pretty cool too! |
Scribblenauts Unlimited 3DS Release Date: November 13th, 2012 Purchased at: Online (Amazon – $10) The price was good, so I bit for this one too, but for more than just a good deal. I’ve managed to own every Scribblenauts game for the handhelds up to this point, but somehow skipped over this version. At just ten dollars I decided it was time to add it to my collection. I really enjoyed Scribblenauts Unmasked, so perhaps this one will be just as fun! |
Mario Golf: World Tour 3DS Release Date: May 2nd, 2014 Purchased at: Online (Amazon – $29) Be it ease of use or laziness, but all of this week’s games come from Amazon. The online retailer does something fairly cool with their pre-release games, by the way. If you commit to buying something, say a video game, before the release date, Amazon locks in your purchase and they’ll deliver it the day of release. But, say the price you paid when you pre-ordered it was $35, and then the price after that drops to $29.99: Amazon will reimburse you the difference, guaranteeing you the best/lowest price on the game! As is the case with this one! And man, I’ve been playing this a lot lately, and it’s totally pulling me in. Addictive golf is the best golf! |
Kirby Triple Deluxe 3DS Release Date: May 2nd, 2014 Purchased at: Online (Amazon – $30) I was debating whether or not to pick this game up at work when it releases to save a bit of money, but then Amazon went and discounted it a few dollars, which ended up making it cheaper than picking it up myself! And they delivered it to my door when I got home from said job! It’s a win-win all around. I decided to start with Mario Golf over Kirby, because I think I’ll enjoy Kirby immensely and end up finishing it rather quickly. I won’t to delay that gratification and crack into the game when I need something new. |
