Leave it to GameStop to lure me to GameCube games yet again. Although this wasn’t entirely GameCube games being on sale. The store has a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” sale on all their pre-owned PS2, PSP, and GameCube games (which can be mixed and matched as you see fit). Well now there’s a deal, isn’t there? I’ll have to check out many other GS’s in the coming week, but for now I settled on a few classics.
 Mega Man X7PlayStation 2 Release Date: October 14th, 2003 Purchased At: GameStop (West Lafayette, IN – Free!) You know, for as much as I love the Mega Man, I never gave the X series that much attention (aside from the stellar Mega Man X on the SNES). That being said, I picked up Mega Man X7 because I want to actually play these games. Considering the Mega Man X Collection only goes up to X6, I suppose I am just thinking and buying ahead. |
 Red Dead RevolverPlayStation 2 Release Date: May 3rd, 2004 Purchased at: CLS Pawn Shop (Lafayette, IN, $5) The original game that inspired Red Dead Redemption is finally in my collection (and at a fantastic price!). Red Dead Revolver doesn’t play entirely the same as Redemption, but it is similar. The open-world feel isn’t done as well I hear, and the game isn’t as inspiring and awesome as it’s sequel. Still though, for five bucks I couldn’t pass it up (and the game and case are in great condition to boot). |
 Space Channel 5: Special EditionPlayStation 2 Release Date: November 18th, 2003 Purchased at: Disc Replay (Lafayette, IN – $1) Here is my thought process for purchasing this one: “Oh wow, Space Channel 5 on the PS2. Hmm, “Special Edition” eh? And the case is is fantastic condition, with the manual still untouched. What?! It’s only one dollar!? … Sold!” |
 Super Monkey BallGameCube Release Date: November 18th, 2001 Purchased at: GameStop (West Lafayette, IN – $5) I remember renting this game when I first purchased my GameCube and enjoying it quite a bit. The unique puzzles and, well, monkeys made the game fresh and fun. What I think I enjoyed most about this though were the minigames that you could play. The one where you drop your monkey on islands below to get points… I played the hell out of that. Oh, and the one with the extendable boxing gloves. That was fun too. Oh memories… |
 Super Monkey Ball 2GameCube Release Date: August 25th, 2002 Purchased at: GameStop (West Lafayette, IN – $6) Less than a year after the release of the first Monkey Ball game, Sega gave us another dose of simian shenanigans in the form of Super Monkey Ball 2. This one… I never actually played. I’m sure it’s just as good as the first (and hopefully better than some of the sequels). If there are more, well thought out puzzles, and some cool minigames, then I can’t ask for anything more. |
