More games from eBay, a few from Amazon, and a live stream to boot! This week saw the last of the eBay purchases come in, which is nice, because these lots had some of the games I cared about the most. Also, Hyrule Warriors gave me another solid reason to play my Wii U after Mario Kart 8 a few months back. Let’s get right into this weeks’ games!
Deep Labyrinth DS Release Date: August 15th, 2006 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) One of the DS’ earliest RPGs/Dungeon Crawlers, Deep Labyrinth is made by Atlus, which I didn’t know about when I was younger, because I would have bought it because of that. The game looks incredibly dated. Usually I feel the earlier games on new systems tend to not maximize the hardware to its fullest, so we’re left with games that look blocky or rough by the system’s end. Still, Deep Labyrinth is a fine game I’m happy to add to the collection. |
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates DS Release Date: March 11th, 2008 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) A game that Laura and her sister have, but I never had my own copy. Ring of Fates is part of the Crystal Chronicles spinoff Final Fantasy series, which basically amounts to the series of Final Fantasy games created specifically for Nintendo consoles. Having only really played the original Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube (and loving it, by the way (multiplayer Final Fantasy!)), I can’t say what to expect from this. |
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings DS Release Date: November 20th, 2007 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) In much the same boat as Ring of Fates above, Revenant Wings is also owned by Laura and her sister, but I’ve never had my own until. Revenant Wings is a direct sequel to the PS2’s Final Fantasy XII, which I was only able to get about 25 hours into before I really lost interest. This game takes place a year after, and features the same cast of characters from FF12, but in a modified RPG setting. |
Hyrule Warriors Wii U Release Date: September 26th, 2014 Purchased at: Amazon (Online – $60) The latest in the Zelda series really has little to do with the Zelda series as we know it, at least in terms of gameplay. This is a Dynasty Warriors game through and through. If you want to watch me play the game live, check out my Twitch channel and enjoy! I frequently play at night, so follow, comment, and enjoy! Old and new games alike, and I’ll happily take suggestions on what to play next! |
Lost in Blue 2 DS Release Date: March 20th, 2007 Purchased at eBay (Online – $10) Well, now I have the second game in the series, this just means I need the first and third to complete it. And you know what, I might as well tack on the Wii game as well to complete the entire series. Lost in Blue is a series of RPGs where you need to survive on an island with your friend after you get shipwrecked. It’s full of minigames and light RPG elements, and it’s honestly right up my alley in terms of gameplay and value! |
Lux-Pain DS Release Date: March 24th, 2009 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) Cannot unsee!! When you look at the thumbnail of the boxart, it looks like the dude up front has some sort of derpy eye problem, but it’s just his right eye being gold (which is probably subsequent of the plot). Regardless, I can’t help but look at the box and think he’s got a weirdly animated eye. Lux-Pain the game is centered on a story where parasites infest the human body and cause them to become more violent and deadly. Creepy! |
My Fun Facts Coach DS Release Date: December 2nd, 2008 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) Hahaha, it’s “Random Internet Stuff: The Game”. Yeah, I’m not playing this, it just happened to be paired with a couple other games I wanted in a lot. |
The New York Times Crosswords DS Release Date: May 25th, 2007 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) See above. Although this one has more likelihood of being played, as at least The New York Times Crosswords are well known for being among the best puzzles. |
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Xbox 360 Release Date: March 18th, 2014 Purchased at: Amazon (Online – $10) Brand new for just $10, Yaiba looks like a pretty awesome zombie-themed ninja game. Every so often games on Amazon will go down pretty low in price, and sometimes I’m luck enough to sweep them up and add them. I’ve never really cared too much if a game was new or not, as I don’t mind opening it to play it (though it decreases the value in the aftermarket), so I might pop this one open when I’m needing some stylized action! |
Yoshi’s Island DS DS Release Date: November 13th, 2006 Purchased at: eBay (Online – $10) The sole game I wanted from a lot of four, Yoshi’s Island DS is a great deal, complete, at $10. Often regarded as the best in the series, second maybe only to the original (and certainly not as bad as the more recent 3DS game Yoshi’s New Island), Yoshi’s Island DS introduced us to all kinds of baby versions of Nintendo mascots: Baby Peach, Baby DK, and even Baby Wario! I’m still waiting for a baby-themed Mario game, where you can use your diapers for extra powerful attacks, and bottles to gain back health. You could even collect stars to replace your broke mobile. Hmmm… |
